Branding FAQs

How do I know if I need to use one of the templates or submit a Brief Sheet?

For any bespoke jobs that require a design element you should always submit a Brief Sheet. However, if you just want to produce a basic leaflet or poster and want to keep costs to a minimum, please use one of the templates available.

What happens when I submit a Brief Sheet?

After a completed Brief Sheet has been received, shortly afterwards you will be provided with a competitive cost for the job, which will be sought from one of our preferred suppliers. Once the cost has been approved, on average we aim to provide proofs (artwork) within 5 working days. After any amends have been made and the artwork has been signed off, allow a further 5 working days for print and delivery. Please note, specialist items may take longer.

Why do we need to use the templates?

The suite of templates have been designed so that you don't have to worry about the positioning of logos and straplines etc as it is all done for you. This will ensure that all communications are consistent, easily recognisable and in line with our branding guidelines.

In addition, wherever possible we want to maximise the use of electronic communications and minimise the use of paper. As a service we are trying to reduce the volume of paper used and printing costs.

I've used the appropriate template to design a leaflet and now need to get a large quantity printed, where do I go?

If you want large quantities of any of the templates printed you should go to the Print Room at Trafford Town Hall (0161 912 4261) as it will be far more cost effective than using a desktop printer, especially if they are in colour.

Where do I get pre-printed CYPS letterheads from?

All CYPS stationery (letterheads, compliment slips and business cards) can also be ordered from the Print Room at Trafford Town Hall, who print these in bulk and sell them back to the service at a discounted price.

Can I use a different design or print agency from those that are on the preferred supplier list?

Quite simply, no. A framework for the supply and delivery of all design and print requirements for Trafford CYPS has been established, based upon the evaluation of twenty tenders. The top three highest scoring bids now make up the framework that we are contracted to for the next two years, with an option to extend for a further one year.

To access one of our preferred suppliers a Brief Sheet must be completed and submitted to James.Blandy@trafford.gov.uk

The only exception to this agreement is for basic requirements from the Print Room. i.e. CYPS stationery (letterheads, compliment slips and business cards). This is in addition to photocopying or print runs that do not require a design element.
