Aiming high for disabled children: delivering improved health services

Trafford PCT in partnership with the Children and Young People's Service (CYPS) has an important role to play in making sure services for children and young people with disabilities, including palliative care needs, are integrated and continually improving.

As a basis for local discussions on priorities we have mapped the NHS contribution to specific elements of services, and begun to identify areas of good practice as well as developments which could improve performance.

We have produced a local statement (see below) that sets out our current and future service plans. It supports the Department of Health view that this can 'enable local review and challenge with partners, service users and the wider community'.

The plans will support delivery against the indicator scores from 2010 used for the local authority disabled children’s services national indicator (NI 54) and the NHS Vital Sign on parents' experience of services for disabled children (VSC33).

The PCT strives for continual improvement of all our local health services in order to enhance the health, well being and experiences of services for our young population.

Should you wish to discuss this matter further please contact Andy Howard, Joint Commissioner Manager, Trafford CYPS on 0161 912 3351 or andrew.howard@trafford.nhs.uk
