Aiming High capital funding

Introduction

£337,600 of Aiming High capital funding is available to support Trafford Council's transformation of short breaks for disabled children. Funding is for providers to apply for capital expenditure to make their settings and activities fully accessible. This should not detract from providers' responsibility to ensure they meet Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements, but the funding would assist with particular costs exceeding DDA requirements.

What kinds of services can be funded through the grant?

Capital funding is to directly support Trafford Council's Aiming High Commissioning Plan. The purpose of Aiming High capital funding is for providers to apply for capital expenditure support to make their settings fully accessible. This should not detract from their own responsibility to ensure that their settings meet the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) requirements, but would assist where there are particular costs associated with providing facilities that exceed the DDA requirements.

Definition of capital expenditure

The Aiming High capital grant scheme covers expenditure on the acquisition of tangible, productive assets, whose value exceeds £2,500 (including VAT) and which will give continuous service beyond the financial year in which they were purchased. This could typically include the purchase of equipment and resources with an individual value that exceeds £2,500 or a group of similar resources that together exceed £2,500.

Who can apply?

Applications will be considered from statutory, voluntary and community based organisations that fulfil the Aiming High criteria and where the applications meet the needs identified in the Aiming High Commissioning Plan.

When should the services be delivered?

All projects should be delivered prior to 31st December 2010.

Where in the borough are services required?

We would like to be able to present opportunities for all children within Trafford across the borough. Bearing this in mind we will try to ensure a good geographical spread of activities so that as many children and young people as possible can access enjoyable short breaks across a range of areas in the borough.

How to apply?

If you are interested in applying for this funding and would like to request a Grant Application Form, please send an email to Kaye Hadfield at kaye.hadfield@trafford.gov.uk or phone on 0161 912 4023.

The return date for this Grant Application process is 12.00 noon on Wednesday 20th January 2010.

Integrated Children's System (ICS)
**ICS is used internally by Social Care (CYPS) staff only The Integrated Children's System has been developed to improve outcomes for children defined as being in need, under the Children's Act 1989. The ICS process gathers complicated and detailed information about Trafford's children and young people and thus shall be stored in a supporting electronic record system. Information shall only be available to practitioners who have a combination of granted consent and where appropriate, the necessary access levels. This system compliments the "Integrated Working" approach.
