Children's homes

Being healthy

The children's homes work alongside other health care professionals to ensure that all presenting and future health needs are met. The staff team ensures that all children are registered with a GP and dentist and support the child to attend all health appointments.

The homes provide and facilitate access to advice and guidance in establishing an awareness of health issues including sexual health and substance misuse.

A healthy diet and lifestyle are actively encouraged and the children can undertake a wide range of leisure activities.

Self esteem and self respect is promoted and children are supported to gain positive identity and establish quality relationships.

Staying safe

Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up in a safe environment. It is an important task to ensure that the children living at the home are cared for in a way that protects their physical and emotional wellbeing.

All children have an individual risk assessment in place, identifying actions staff are to take in certain circumstances to keep children safe.

All staff receive training on Child Protection and a range of health and safety issues to ensure the home maintains a safe environment.
