Enjoy and achieve
Children living at the homes are supported and encouraged to attend and enjoy school and engage in school activities. The staff assist children to be ready and equipped and help with homework. All the children have Personal Education Plans to support their learning. Some children may need extra support with education and the home works with other agencies to offer a package of support suited to the child.
Children are praised and rewarded for achievements and are offered a range of positive opportunities to develop social, life and independent living skills.
Individual and group leisure plans are in place for all children offering a range of suitable outings and activities. Children are encouraged to follow their hobbies and attend community-based clubs that will further develop their talents and interests.
Make a positive contribution
Children are involved in the day to day decision making within the home and regular children's meetings take place to ensure the children views are listened to, valued and acted upon. The staff encourage the young people to attend and engage in further education and training activities.
The homes encourage and support the development of responsibility and awareness of self and others and provide opportunities, positive examples and guidance to assist children in developing a range of social, life and independent living skills.
Achieve economic well-being
Young people are supported in budgeting, cooking, and vocational training to prepare them for independent living and the homes work closely with colleagues and other agencies to plan carefully for a young person's move towards independence.
