CIC Council officially launched at celebration event

May 13th saw the official launch of the Children in Care Council, Youth Advocacy at the celebration event for Trafford's children and young people in care. The event was held at Gorse Hill Studios in Stretford who gave all the children and young people attending an opportunity to try out the various activities they offer, including a singing workshop, arts and crafts, drama and dance.
The event was launched by a presentation from two members of Youth Advocacy about the work the council had done since its beginnings in late 2008. They also identified areas they would like to work on in the future. The whole group then took to the stage to loud applause and the group was formally launched by Trafford Council Chief Executive Janet Callender.
Then it was on to the celebration part of the evening. Over thirty Trafford children and young people in care received an award for their outstanding achievements from Janet Callender. Parents, carers and social workers cheered as the impressive achievements were read out.
A buffet followed and the children and young people had a chance to mingle or head off for more activities run by Gorse Hill studios staff.
