Early Years & Childcare Business Support Service
The Early Years & Childcare Business Support Team offer a business support service to early years, childcare and play providers in both the maintained sector and the private, voluntary and independent (PVI) sector. This is in addition to providing general financial and administrative support to the wider Sure Start team, including Workforce Learning, CYP Information Service, Childcare & Play and Children's Centres.
The business support service supports the creation of new childcare places and the sustainability of existing early years and play provision through providing best financial advice and business practice. This is done by working with providers to enable them to produce and implement effective business plans; to help secure private sector capital and other funding opportunities; to analyse and identify strategies to ensure viability and long term sustainability; and monitor and evaluate external grant funded projects to assist with the long term sustainability of provision, including Big Lottery Fund and Sure Start sustainability grants.
The service also works in partnership with the Workforce Learning & Business Development Team to identify wider business or development related support needs of early years and childcare providers and signpost to other sources of help and support.
Within the financial and administrative support service sits the administration of the following schemes:
- Free entitlement to nursery education for three and four years olds
- Childminder sufficiency grants
- Inclusion childcare scheme
- Quality & access capital grants
- Sustainability grants
