Children's centres are currently recruiting to three new Training and Employment Support Officers. These posts are to support parents who have never worked or attended college by developing and encouraging their aspirations to achieve their potential.
All the capital schemes for children's centres have now finished. Some of the schemes were designed in partnership with local organisations to enhance the provision for young children in their community; for example;
- The Hub in Altrincham has now got an indoor soft play area for children under five years old.
- St Hilda's Church on Kings Rd has a training kitchen and cafe facilities.
- Sale West community centre has facilities for a local playgroup to be developed and an indoor sensory room.
- Community hub on Ripon Road, Lostock is a joint venture with Trafford Housing Trust. It has an outreach office for Trafford staff, creche facilities, training facilities, health room and meeting rooms.
Currently children's centres have 10 active volunteers across Trafford. These volunteers are mainly supporting the running of the universal services e.g. stay and plays, toy libraries, rhyme times. They are supported by staff in the setting up and delivery of sessions, including planned activities, modelling and interacting with the parents and providing peer support.
We have 6 local parents in Old Trafford who are setting up a new parent and toddler group at St Hilda's Church. These parent volunteers have been supported by the children's centre, but will run the group independently.
