CONNEXIONS' PILOT FLYING
The Connexions Learning Agreement Team has signed up 103 young people and their employers to the Learning Agreement Pilot since April 2007, already hitting the set by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) for April 2008. This is despite changes in personnel and to the Pilot since it started in April 2006. Our thanks and appreciation go to Jeni, Louise, Sue, Jack and Gemma who have played an important part in signing young people to the Pilot and all the Connexions Personal Advisers for their support.
SHARING YOUR INFORMATION
Consultation is currently underway on the proposed protocols and matrix for information sharing within Trafford CYPS. Once approved these protocols will be completed with CYPS and its partner organisations and become working documents that staff will be expected to work within when sharing information on service users. It is important that people share their views on the proposed documents before they are agreed. The deadline for responding to the consultation is 19 March 2008. All the consultation documents are available through the CYPS (www.cyps.org.uk) within the staff section, or from Michelle Peel, Implementation Officer (Information Sharing). If you have any questions about either the consultation or the implementation process for Information Sharing, please contact Michelle on michelle.peel@trafford.gov.uk or 0161 912 1240.
KEY STAGE 3 SATs RESULTS,TRAFFORD 5th BEST IN COUNTRY
In 2007 Trafford schools had the best Key Stage 3 SATs English, Mathematics and Science results in the North West and the fifth best in the country. There was a third consecutive rise in attainment in Mathematics locally, while nationally attainment slipped. Students achieving level five or above in Reading again increased at a faster rate than the national average. Significantly, there was also an over six per cent increase in the number of pupils attaining level six locally, while nationally there was no increase. Many congratulations to our secondary schools and thanks to our School Improvement Service for the real value they add to schools.
TRAFFORD CYPS BECOME NATIONAL PILOT FOR PARENTING
Following submitting an 'expression of interest' we have been successful in becoming one of only 18 authority areas in the country included in the Parenting Implementation Project. There are only two areas in the North West, Trafford and Lancashire. A big thank you to Mandy Hughes and her team for putting such a good bid together.
