FUNDING AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY GROUP PROJECTS
Awards of up to £1000 are available for community group projects in Greater Manchester from the Police Property Act Fund. The funding is for projects that would create opportunities for children and young people to get involved in; promote safety and reduce the fear of crime amongst the elderly and vulnerable, including victims of crime, by providing support and advice; develop opportunities for improving community cohesion between people from different ethnic backgrounds; or assist in the prevention of crime within the local community. The Police Property Act Fund is made up of monies received by the police from property confiscated by order of court and then sold. The main aim of the fund is to support local projects undertaken by voluntary/charitable organisations that benefit the communities of Greater Manchester, especially those which have a positive impact in reducing crime and disorder at a local level. The deadline to submit applications is 10 July and the decision for funding allocation will be made in September 2008. Application forms, further guidance and criteria can be obtained by contacting the Fund Administrator, GMPA, Salford Civic Centre, Chorley Road, Swinton, Salford,M27 5DA, by calling 0161 793 3127, by emailing GMPA or visit here
