FLIXTON INFANT SCHOOL 'OUTSTANDING' - OFSTED
Flixton Infant School has been acknowledged as an 'outstanding' school where pupils thrive academically and socially by Ofsted. Pupils at the school were found to make outstanding progress and reach standards well above average. The "excellent leadership and management" were found to be key to the school's success, which, it was recognised extended beyond just academic excellence. The inspectors also acknowledged the emphasis the school places on the personal development of all pupils. They said pupils were exceptionally well cared for, guided and supported. Thanks to staff encouragement, pupils' developed well, found the work interesting and academically were well above average in reading, writing and mathematics. Pupils looked forward to school, were keen to learn and join in activities enthusiastically. Parents' comments were extremely positive, including one which said: "A great school, great teachers and a very happy and caring environment." Outstanding teaching and learning were seen throughout the school, with pupils enjoying lessons and having interesting and exciting opportunities to learn.

It is believed that Trafford is one of the first local authorities in the North West to consult with young people in this way.
Facebook has seven million users in the UK providing an alternative way to engage with a younger generation. The Council is offering the opportunity for people participating in the consultation to win an iPod Nano. It would be appreciated if colleagues working with young people could make them aware that they can be party to the consultation by logging onto
