Parents are responsible for ensuring that their child of compulsory school age attends school regularly at the appropriate times each day. However, the Council is legally required to provide or pay for eligible children to receive free school transport.

In order to qualify as an eligible child a child must be a resident in the Borough of Trafford and be of compulsory school age. A child ceases to be of compulsory school age on the last Friday in June of the School Year in which s/he reaches 16.
